According to the study, having the lid down prevents more than 95% of the particles from becoming airborne. Who knows, that person you know who is always getting sick, could be directly related to the "lid up" flushing issue.
For the last 20+ years, people would look at me like I was crazy when I would share this story. Now, more recent studies have been made confirming the results of the U of A findings. One thing is for sure, it won't do any harm flushing with the lid down, and you might actually start feeling better.
